TopSpin 4th Ranking Tournament

The Elite category, which took place on Wednesday 24^th June, consisted of five players who started off with an intense round robin group stage, where each point carried weight. All five players demonstrated their abilities and determination, proving their place at this level. The athletes then went on to compete in the semifinals, with two close-matched finals bringing the tournament to a close, with Nicholas Sciberras placing 1^st in the category, with Timothy Chetcuti and Michael Caruana placing 2^nd and 3^rd respectively, and Nadia Bonnett obtaining 4^th place.

The remaining players competed on Saturday 27^th June, split into the Gold, Silver and Bronze categories, based on skill and ranking points. Across all three categories, the athletes played with perseverance, chasing every point.

The Gold category consisted of five players who competed in a round robin group stage and were then faced with semi finals and finals. It was a tough group, with players of a high level who all rose to the challenge of claiming the Gold category trophy. Marcel Buian claimed 1^st place in the Gold category in the end, with Robert Attard placing 2^nd and Karl Sawyer finishing in 3^rd place.

The Silver category was split into three groups, from which the top two players qualified to the quarter final stages or directly to the semifinals. With evenly matched players, the quarter finals were tough matches, with close points and fierce rallies. The players fought to the last point, raising the stakes in the semifinals and finals. Ultimately, Vincent Ballet claimed the Silver category 1^st place trophy, with Niki Pace Rota, and Chris Feng in 2^nd and 3^rd places respectively.

The Bronze category was similarly split into two groups, with the group stage leading to the top three players qualifying from each group. These players faced off in the quarter finals, where the winners then competed with the first placed athletes from each group in the semifinals. The gripping final for first place, between Francesca Ferriggi and Zack Borg was a close match, with limited time for errors as it was played over just three sets. The trophy was claimed by Francesca Ferriggi, after a hard fought match, with Zack Borg and Miguel Baldacchino placing 2^nd and 3^rd respectively.
