As of the 1st ranking tournament of the 2025/2026 season, Topspin has started using a new ranking system for in-house competitions. Based on the WTT tournament ranking points, the system rewards performance and progress, allowing players a fair shot in rising through the ranks. It is a merit-based system, as the points are awarded according to the players’ best performance and their outcome in the competition, making each game count.
All five categories offer a challenge, with the maximum points awarded to the winners, and each players earning points for their performance. Whether it is a season player defending their title, or a first-time competitor taking a shot, everyone has a chance to prove their place. The table found below shows the exact points players are awarded for each stage.

The academy sees a wide range of games on tournament day. It is safe to say that the students put their all into the competition, bringing their best to the table, with close matches and fierce rallies going on until late in the day.
And the results are in! The top 4 players for each category are as follows:
Category | Elite | Gold | Silver | Bronze A | Bronze B |
1st 🥇 | Luke Fenech | Timothy Chetcuti | Vincent Ballet | Sean Pace Rota | Emma Zammit |
2nd 🥈 | Matthew Cassar | Razvan Bustiuc | Carl Thorne | Lian Bugeja | Neal Cachia |
3rd 🥉 | Sabine Darmanin | Marcel Buian | Daniel Renaud | Steven Camilleri | Kaya Thornton |
4th 🏅 | Nicholas Sciberras | Karl Sawyer | Mireille Bonnet | James Borg | Luigi Zahra |
A big well done goes out to all those who participated for bringing the spirit of table tennis competition to the academy. If you haven’t checked out your new rankings, go take a look at our Rankings Page to see where you stand!
